Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of the best things Disney does all year. Trick or treating through Magic Kingdom, characters you cannot meet any other time, a parade with a Headless Horseman galloping down Main Street, and fireworks that only exist on party nights.
It is also a party that runs from 7:00 PM to midnight.
If you are bringing a three year old, that number is the entire planning problem. Everything below is written around solving it.
The 2026 dates
The party runs on select nights from August 7 through October 31, 2026 at Magic Kingdom.
In August and September, party nights fall on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with one extra Thursday on September 24. In October it expands to every Thursday, most Fridays and Sundays, most Tuesdays, and Saturday on Halloween itself.
The party runs 7:00 PM to midnight, and here is the detail that matters most for families: ticket holders can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 PM. Your party ticket buys you eight hours of park, not five.
You also do not need a separate day ticket. The party ticket alone gets you in from 4:00 PM.
Dates sell out, and popular October nights sell out well in advance. If you have a specific night in mind, book it rather than assuming it will be there.
The math nobody does before they go
Let us be honest about what you are signing your child up for.
You enter at 4:00 PM. The party ends at midnight. That is eight hours on your feet, in Florida heat that does not really break until well after dark, ending six hours past a normal bedtime.
And unlike a regular park day, there is nothing slowing you down. Party crowds are lighter than daytime crowds, so you are not standing in long lines. You are moving constantly between trick or treat stations, character meets, the parade route, and the fireworks viewing spot.
Most families walk five to seven miles during the party alone, on top of whatever they did earlier in the day.
A four year old is not making it to midnight on foot. That is not a failure of parenting, it is arithmetic.
What actually works
Take a real break before you go in. The single biggest predictor of whether the night goes well is whether your child slept in the afternoon. Go back to the hotel after lunch, get a nap or at least an hour of quiet, then come back for the 4:00 PM entry. Families who try to do a full park day and then the party almost always leave early.
Get there at 4:00, not 7:00. Those three hours before the party officially starts are the calmest of the night. Ride the headliners, get your photos in costume while everyone is fresh, and eat dinner before the party crowd builds.
Eat before 7:00. Once the party starts, everyone wants food at the same time. Handle dinner in that 4:00 to 6:00 window.
Do trick or treating during the first parade. The parade runs twice on most nights. While everyone lines up for the first one, the treat trails are the quietest they will be all evening. Watch the second parade instead, which is also less crowded.
Bring a bag for the candy. Disney hands out a lot of it. A stroller basket does this job better than your arms do.
Costumes are allowed, and this is the only time. Adults can wear costumes to this party, which is not permitted any other day of the year. Masks are not allowed for adults, and nothing that drags or obstructs. Dress for heat, because September evenings in Orlando are still warm and a full costume gets uncomfortable fast.
The stroller question
We rent strollers, so take this with that in mind, but the party is genuinely the strongest case for one all year.
Here is what it actually solves at midnight. Your child falls asleep somewhere between the fireworks and the exit, which happens to nearly everyone under six. Without a stroller, someone is carrying a sleeping forty pound child through Magic Kingdom, onto a ferry or monorail, across a parking lot, and into a car.
With a stroller, they sleep, you keep walking, and the night ends well instead of ending in a meltdown at 10:30 that costs you the last ninety minutes you paid for.
It also carries the candy, the costume pieces they take off, the water bottles and the jackets nobody wanted at 4:00 PM but everyone wants at 11:00.
One planning note: strollers park in designated areas during the parade and fireworks, so you will be away from it for stretches. Do not leave anything valuable in it.
What is new in 2026
Stitch is hosting a dance party at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland with Lilo and Angel, which is new this year. The Cadaver Dans return, along with Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular stage show, and Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks.
Trick or treat trails, exclusive character greetings, party merchandise and Halloween food and drinks are all back.
If you are not attending
Party nights are still worth knowing about. On those dates, Magic Kingdom closes to regular day guests at 6:00 PM. Shorter hours push a lot of families to other parks, which makes party days quietly good days to visit Magic Kingdom during the daytime.
Just know you will not get the regular evening fireworks or nighttime parade on those nights.
The bottom line
Go at 4:00, nap beforehand, eat early, and plan for the walk home. The party is genuinely magical for little kids, and the families who love it are the ones who planned around the clock instead of fighting it.
